AQUARIUS Funding Call - Marine and Freshwater Infrastructure Access

               Closed: 2 September 2025 – 28 October 2025

The second AQUARIUS call focuses on the overarching challenges relevant to the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.

Responding to the outcomes of the first Call, single applicants/entities are now eligible to apply, and only user groups with more than four users from different organisations are required to include partners from at least two different countries (based on current affiliation).

The Portal for submission of applications is open from 2 September to  28 October 2025 (midnight CET). Eligibility criteria and details of how to apply can be found in the menu in the side panel.

  1. Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources

Promoting the responsible use of marine and freshwater resources through the balanced management of fisheries, aquaculture and water systems.

  1. Protection of Aquatic Ecosystems and Biodiversity Restoration

Focus on conserving aquatic habitats, enhancing aquatic biodiversity, and supporting the recovery of degraded ecosystems.

  1. Pollution Reduction and Circular Solutions

Addressing the reduction of chemical, nutrient, and plastic pollution in aquatic habitats, while promoting circular economy approaches and waste minimization.

  1. Climate Resilience and Multi-Stressor Adaptation

Supporting the adaptation to climate impacts and cumulative environmental pressures in aquatic environments through nature-based solutions and stressor assessments.

  1. Sustainable Blue Economy and Innovation

Promoting the development of eco-friendly marine industries, such as renewable energy, green shipping, tourism, and aquaculture.

  1. Inclusive Governance and Public Engagement

Emphasizing the importance of involving communities, integrating local knowledge and raising awareness of sustainable policies and measures.
