Led by the Irish Marine Institute, the AQUARIUS consortium of 45 leading organisations from different sectors represents the best of expertise across Europe, while also allowing for access to their existing international collaborators. The consortium combines the necessary disciplinary and inter-disciplinary knowledge, capacity and complementary expertise to cover the full research life cycle, from:
- Design of a highly focused RI programme addressing Mission Ocean and Waters objectives,
- Promotion of the marine and freshwater research infrastructure services across Europe, development of a user friendly Access Portal,
- Assessment and selection of scientifically excellent Access Projects,
- Support and technical training for the end users and wider research communities,
- Scientific and complex operational (logistics) supports for Access projects,
- Governance to ensure high quality excellent research is conducted,
- Exceptional data stewardship and implementation of open science practices, and
- The ability to capture value from the Access Projects to ensure the targeted outcomes and impacts can be achieved.
