With over 160 registered participants, and almost 100 attendees joining live online, the first AQUARIUS Brokerage Event webinar was a great success. Led by the Marine Institute, this event is the fourth in a series of Brokerage Events to engage with scientists, introduce the AQUARIUS concept, highlight the funding opportunities and answer questions about the transnational access offered by AQUARIUS. Following three successful in-person events with a regional focus that took place in the UK, Spain, and Romania, the online format enabled the AQUARIUS team to engage with a wider audience, including scientists from more than 24 countries across Europe and beyond.
This event focused on the upcoming first Transnational Access Funding Call, the “Regional Lighthouse Access Call”, opening on 11 November, 2024. The AQUARIUS team highlighted the research infrastructure portfolio, explained how to apply to the upcoming Transnational Access Call and the different aspects of AQUARIUS, from data management, to training, to impact. The webinar concluded with an informative Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to clarify specific points. All the questions have been incorporated into our FAQ page.
Moderated by Bernadette Ní Chonghaile (Marine Institute), the webinar opened with remarks from project coordinator Aodhán Fitzgerald (Marine Institute), who provided a succinct overview of AQUARIUS, its aims and objectives. Anneli Strobel (Alfred Wegener Institute) then introduced the themes and scope of the first Call and the application procedure, drawing attention to all the information and the guidelines for applicants available on the AQUARIUS website.
Andrea Caburlotto (OGS) outlined AQUARIUS training opportunities, announcing an upcoming webinar on 27 November 2024 where potential applicants can learn how to use the dedicated AQUARIUS Transnational Access Platform (TAP) to prepare, submit and follow the progress of their proposals. Stay tuned to our social media channels and website for more information about this AQUARIUS Training Webinar and how to register. Concluding the presentations, Peter Thijsse (Maris B.V.) presented the AQUARIUS data management plan, emphasising that data generated by AQUARIUS-funded projects will be required to be open and FAIR.
For those of you considering preparing a proposal, we encourage you to watch the full webinar recording, visit the FAQ section and look at the TA Calls page on our website for the detailed information for applicants.
