New Blog on PLOCAN Glider Summer School

Read our new blog, and learn about the glider training and access opportunities at PLOCAN via AQUARIUS. We spoke with Carlos Barrera, Head of the Ocean Vehicles Unit at the Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias (PLOCAN) and AQUARIUS partner, about PLOCAN’s summer school opportunities for early-career scientists and technicians.

AQUARIUS placements are available during the PLOCAN Glider Summer School, which is a reference training school in marine glider technology held annually by PLOCAN.

➡️ What?

The course training content covers hardware and software aspects through specific theoretical and practical sessions in the classroom, laboratory and open water using glider units of different technologies (AutoNaut, Sailbuoy, Waveglider, Slocum, Seaglider and Seaexplorer), focusing on the characteristics of each technology, its capabilities and applications.

➡️ Who should apply?

The school is aimed at university students in the marine-maritime and technological fields, as well as technicians/professionals in the sector. The aim is to train them in theoretical and practical skills and abilities related to unmanned ocean vehicles, such as gliders.

Applications are accepted until 31th June 2027!
