AQUARIUS Funding Call – Marine and Freshwater Infrastructure Access: Open 02 September 2025 – 28 October 2025
Summer Schools

AQUARIUS placements are available during the PLOCAN Glider Summer School in 2025, 2026, and 2027. For each edition, AQUARIUS will cover the participation costs and partially the travel and subsistence costs for two early-career technicians/scientists to attend.
Applications for the 2025 Glider School are now closed! Applications for the 2026 and 2027 Glider School editions will open from January 1 to June 30 of the respective years.
PLOCAN Glider School Internship Call
The PLOCAN Glider School is a reference training school in marine glider technology held annually by the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN). The course training content covers hardware and software aspects through specific theoretical and practical sessions in the classroom, laboratory and open water using glider units of different technologies (AutoNaut, Sailbuoy, Waveglider, Slocum, Seaglider and Seaexplorer), focusing on the characteristics of each technology, its capabilities and applications.
The school is aimed at university students in the marine-maritime and technological fields, as well as technicians/professionals in the sector. The aim is to train them in theoretical and practical skills and abilities related to unmanned ocean vehicles, such as gliders.
The PLOCAN Glider School should therefore be understood as a basic hands-on training approach. For this reason it takes only 15 students per edition (annual), selected by a process of curricular merit in compliance with the quality certification criteria under which the PLOCAN Glider School is conducted.
Applications for the next summer school (2026) will open from January 1 to June 30, 2026!
Please note that AQUARIUS will reimburse the cost of the Glider School. For students, travel and accommodation costs will be partially reimbursed by the AQUARIUS project up to a specified limit. The support (school costs plus travel and accommodation costs for students) will be reimbursed on submission of proof of expenditure by each individual.
By completing and submitting the application form, you consent to AQUARIUS using the information provided to contact you in relation to upcoming relevant training opportunities and accept the AQUARIUS Privacy Policy on the handling of personal data.
The application form asks for the applicant’s specific training interests, these will be considered on a case-by-case basis as the specific training on offer is always in flux.
