Scientific and Technical Specifications
General Information
The SmartBay Observatory is a fixed point, cabled underwater observatory. A 400 V hybrid power/fiber cable provides power and real time communications to a central electronics bottle which in turn supports a number of scientific ports. These ports are used by a number of core sensors which are maintained in a calibrated state throughout their deployment. These sensors include; CTD, ECO-FL, HD Camera, pH, PC02, ADCP, Hydrophone. Unused scientific ports are available for use and integration with other suitable sensors and there are several configurations in relation to communications (optical fiber, ethernet, serial) and power availability (12 V, 24 V, 48 V). All sensor data is transmitted in real time to a shore-station via the subsea cable where it can then be pushed to the web or alternative locations as required. For more information, a virtual tour and to access real time data see smartbay.ie.
Support offered to AQUARIUS users
Support from concept to implementation and pre-deployment testing can be offered by our experienced technical team. All sensor integrations and deployment logistics are managed internally by the SmartBay team.
