Description
General Information
The European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory – European Research Infrastructure Consortium EMSO (ERIC) provides power, communications, sensors, and data infrastructure for continuous, high-resolution, (near-)real-time, interactive ocean observations across a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary range of research areas including biology, geology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computer science, from polar to subtropical environments, through the water column down to the abyss. EMSO is one of the environmental RIs on the ESFRI roadmap and is a large-scale European Research Infrastructure (RI) with eight deep-sea and three shallow Regional Facilities span from the Arctic through the Atlantic and Mediterranean, to the Black Sea. EMSO became an ERIC on the first of October 2016 and brings together not only countries and disciplines but allows the pooling of resources and coordination to assemble harmonised data into a comprehensive regional ocean picture, which it will then make available to researchers and stakeholders worldwide on an open and interoperable access basis.European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory. The EMSO ERIC Data Management team is composed of the Data Management Service Group (DMSG), which includes one or more data managers from each EMSO regional facility. At present, the group consists of 17 members, as well as a Data Officer from the Central Management Office (CMO). They hold regular monthly meetings to discuss ongoing projects, operational improvements, and strategic objectives.
