AQUARIUS explores collaboration with other Research Infrastructures at EuroGO-SHIP workshop in Venice, Italy

AQUARIUS was represented at the EuroGO-SHIP Research Infrastructure (RI) Workshop in Venice, Italy, that took place on 27 June 2024. The objectives of the workshop were among others to facilitate networking between ocean observing related RIs; to better understand the RI gaps and needs that could be addressed or services that could be provided by a EuroGO-SHIP RI; and identify synergies on RI functions.

At the workshop, AQUARIUS Project Manager Bernadette Ni Chonghaile (Marine Institute) explored collaboration scenarios among Research Infrastructures (RIs) to promote research and innovation, identify synergies in RI functions, and develop RI-based solutions to tackle global challenges related to our oceans and waters.

As a Horizon Europe Project, AQUARIUS focuses on integrating diverse research infrastructures across Europe and providing access to them via two Transnational Access Funding calls. Our goals in this workshop were to:
✔ Understand better the landscape of ocean-observing RIs and projects.
✔ Network with professionals in this field.
✔ Raise awareness of available and emerging RI services and facilities.
