Read the AQUARIUS Annual Report

The first AQUARIUS Annual Report has been published marking the end of the first year of the AQUARIUS project. Opening with a foreward from our coordinator, Aodhán Fitzgerald, the report provides a summary overview of activity and key achievements as well as a more detailed breakdown of the individual work areas and progress.

AQUARIUS is an important and ambitious project with the overall aim to provide Transnational Access to a comprehensive and diverse suite of integrated research infrastructures, enabling collaborative research on our marine and freshwater ecosystems.
Addressing the challenges facing these aquatic ecosystems requires a holistic and integrated approach and that is exactly what AQUARIUS is enabling. This broad geographic and cross-domain scope of AQUARIUS is only possible because of our large network of 41 partners from 18 countries.

The first year has been an extremely productive year, in which we have met all our milestones and delivered on all our planned activities. Some first-year highlights included the development and launch of the online Research Infrastructure Catalogue; the identification of data gaps and scientific challenges in Mission Lighthouse areas to inform the design of our first Transnational Access Call; the AQUARIUS Data Management Plan to implement our Open Data strategy; a series of sea-basin brokerage events to promote our first Call and engage with the community and, of course, the successful design and launch of our first Transnational Access Call. All these activities have been supported by our partner-wide communication, dissemination and outreach activities.

We invite you to take a look at the report and find out more about what has been achieved as we prepare now for the Second AQUARIUS Transnational Access Call, launching on 2 September 2025.
